DEC Ready for New Year's Celebration; Urges Reporting of Illegal Fireworks and Noise Complaints to hubNashville

The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is fully staffed for this year's New Year's Celebration.

DEC has activated its Nashville Telecommunicator Emergency Response Team (NTERT), which will be strategically stationed to support emergency responses at the downtown event, while the other first first responders continue to handle emergencies across the city. Tactical dispatchers on NTERT will work side-by-side with police, fire, and EMS. The team will also use Prepared 911 to share live video, caller location, and texts with first responders when seconds count.

"New Year's Eve and Nashville's Big Bash is one of the biggest events of the year, broadcast to a nationwide audience," said DEC Director Stephen Martini. "Our people are ready and proud to serve the city and its visitors. Events of this scale require extensive planning and strong partnerships, and we are grateful to work closely with MNPD, NFD, OEM, and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp to help ensure a safe and successful celebration."

If You're Attending Nashville's Big Bash

• It takes all of us to keep events like this safe and enjoyable. If you see something that seems out of place or strange, say something and report it right away to the nearest uniformed Metro Nashville Police Officer. If you can't find one nearby, call 911.

DEC Also Reminds the Community

It is illegal to sell, use or shoot off any fireworks in Davidson County without a permit.
