Jay Brewer
Veteran Service OfficerI was raised in Northeastern Kentucky on the Ohio and West Virginia borders. My father was a Marine and his stories about his experiences in the military fascinated me from a very young age. In high school, I was in the Marine Corps JROTC program which furthered my interest, so it was a natural transition to join the Marine Corps after graduation. I served 30 years in the Meteorological and Oceanographic occupational field where I worked as a weather observer and later as a weather forecaster. I served multiple combat deployments in Southwest Asia as well as operations in Southern Europe and East Asia.
After I retired from the Marine Corps, I worked for the VA at the Louisville KY Regional Office as a Veteran Service Representative (VSR) where I processed disability claims and later transferred to the Nashville Regional Office as a Legal Administrative Specialist (LAS) in the National Call Center assisting Veterans and their families with Veterans benefits such as disability and pension claims, to name a few. While working at the VA, I gained extensive knowledge of VA benefits which I now gladly bring to my fellow Veterans in Davidson County.
