Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is in compliance with all Federal laws, including Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
The above laws permit qualified applicants and employees equable access to Metro employment.
- The ADA makes it illegal to discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities in employment.
- The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires a covered employer to provide a "reasonable accommodation" to a qualified employee or applicant's known limitations related to, affected by, or arising out of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an "undue hardship."
While there is no specific form or language an employee needs to use to access these rights, Metro Human Resources has created a form for the employee to complete and submit to their supervisor to help guide them through the process. This form is to be used by existing Metro employees only.
In the event that the employee is unable to complete the essential functions of their job, the employee may consider evaluating the need, and eligibility, for a disability pension or Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Requests for accommodation for the recruitment process can be directed to Human Resources at 615-862-6640.
