Trash and Recycling Pickup Days are Changing February 2, 2026
Starting February 2, Nashville Waste Services will shift to a new residential trash and recycling collection schedule. Customers will continue to receive weekly trash pickup and every other week recycling pickup, it just might be on a new day.
This change is about serving a growing city and will make collection smarter and improve service efficiency.
New Collection Schedule
Residents can look up their new collection day using our New Pickup Day Lookup Tool and can see their full schedule starting in February using the pickup calendar on the Nashville Waste and Recycling App available in your mobile app store or on our website.
Residents should also look out for:
- Postcard mailer with your new day.
- Sticker on your cart with a QR code for those that are getting a service day change.
Don't miss your new day by signing up for pickup day reminders using the Nashville Waste and Recycling App or web widget. Your reminders will automatically shift to your new day on February 2.
New Holiday Schedule
To reduce the number of schedule changes due to Metro holidays, Nashville Waste Services is doing holidays different starting February 2.
With the new schedule, collection during holiday weeks is simpler:
- If a holiday is on Tuesday through Friday, that day's pickups happen on Monday of that same week instead. Everyone else's collection day stays the same.
- If a holiday is on a Monday, there are no pickup day changes.
This means fewer schedule disruptions for residents and, for some residents, no disruptions in service.
Why the Change
We want to ensure your pickup is reliable and convenient. Our new schedule helps us serve a growing city efficiently, safely, and consistently.
- Streamline operations by using state-of-the-art routing technology to track collection trucks in real time, provide digital proof of service, and simplify daily vehicle inspections.
- Better route efficiency and access on every street by compacting routes that were previously more spread out across the city, pairing the right truck with the right route, and creating dedicated recovery routes.
- New collection schedule to reduce disruptions in service by repurposing Mondays for added fleet maintenance, increased training, and holiday pickup.
