Choose How You Move is delivering real results for Nashville. Backed by voter-approved funding, the program has moved from approval to implementation—bringing safer streets, more reliable transit, and better connections to neighborhoods across Davidson County.
In its first year alone, more than $163 million in projects were launched to modernize transit and mobility infrastructure. Today, foundational projects are operational or underway, turning a promise into visible progress residents can see and use every day.
Projects and Progress Across Nashville
Choose How You Move is advancing projects across four core areas: sidewalks, signals, service, and safety.
Sidewalks
Sidewalks connect neighborhoods to transit, schools, jobs, and everyday destinations. The first CHYM-funded sidewalk project is complete, closing critical gaps and improving accessibility for people walking and rolling, and new projects are coming online during the 2026 construction season.
Signals
Fiber installation and smart signal upgrades are underway along major corridors, including downtown and key pikes across the city. These investments will improve traffic flow, reduce delays, and support more reliable transit and travel times.
Service
Transit service has already expanded three times since program launch, including increased frequency, extended hours, new buses in service, and expanded WeGo Link zones. Weekend and evening service for WeGo Access has also expanded, giving riders with disabilities more flexibility and independence.
Additional investments are underway to improve transit stops and shelters, expand the bus fleet, plan for a new operations facility, and advance the future SoBro Transit Center. Transit safety and security investments are also being implemented systemwide.
Journey Pass, Nashville’s first fare-free transit program for income-eligible riders, has already connected more than 10,000 residents to over one million trips – helping residents reach jobs, healthcare, education, and daily needs.
Safety
Complete Streets projects are underway across the city, including improvements on Historic Jefferson Street and other key corridors. These projects are designed to support safer travel for people of all ages and abilities while strengthening neighborhood connections and supporting local economic activity.
All-Access Corridors
Planning and design are advancing for major corridors like Nolensville Pike and Gallatin Pike/Main Street, combining transit improvements with safer crossings, sidewalk upgrades, smarter signals, and more reliable travel. Near-term improvements are already helping improve mobility while long-term corridor planning continues.
The program marked its first ribbon-cutting with a new transit queue jump lane, improving bus speed and reliability on Murfreesboro Pike, one of Nashville’s busiest All-Access Corridors.

A Chief Program Officer is leading implementation alongside a multidisciplinary team, while the Advisory Committee on Transportation provides oversight and guidance rooted in safety, connection, equity, and public trust.
As implementation continues, the program will expand to deliver more projects, improve reliability, and strengthen connections across Nashville – building momentum, maintaining transparency, and demonstrating a strong return on the voter-approved investment.
