Sidewalks, Signals, Service, and Safety
Choose How You Move is Nashville’s voter-approved plan to modernize our transportation system and give people safer, more reliable ways to get around. For years, residents asked for safer streets, smoother traffic, better sidewalks, and transit that runs when people actually need it. In November 2024, Nashvillians voted to make that vision real-creating dedicated funding for transportation improvements for the first time in the city’s history.
Now, implementation is underway. Choose How You Move is delivering practical, cost-effective investments that improve how our streets function for everyone – whether you walk, roll, ride transit, bike, or drive. By focusing on safety, reliability, and access to opportunity, the program is building a transportation system that supports daily life, strengthens neighborhoods, and keeps Nashville moving as we grow.
What Choose How You Move Delivers
Choose How You Move is a comprehensive package of improvements designed to make travel safer, faster, and more dependable across Nashville-Davidson County. It includes:
- 86 miles of new sidewalks to close gaps, improve accessibility, and make everyday trips safer for people walking and rolling

- 24/7/365 transit service for the first time in Nashville’s history, expanding access to jobs, education, healthcare, and entertainment—any time of day
- More frequent bus service and stronger crosstown and local routes, making transit more convenient and reliable without needing to plan around a schedule
- Targeted safety improvements on high-injury streets, focusing investments where serious and fatal crashes occur most often
- A pathway to federal matching funds, made possible by dedicated local revenue, which allows Nashville to deliver more improvements at a lower local cost
