To maintain the high level of service our community expects, it is often necessary to replace or rehabilitate infrastructure.
In each of our projects, we strive to minimize disruption to the community as much as possible. However, during infrastructure projects, residents will see an increase in truck traffic and may experience noise and dust associated with construction.
If a scheduled service interruption is necessary as part of a project listed below, customers will be notified 24 hours in advance either in person or with a door hanger.
Upon project completion, final paving of damaged roadways will be done after a settling period.
Our goal is to complete projects as quickly as possible, but MWS will not compromise the safety of residents or workers. Construction delays may occur due to weather or other safety concerns.
We appreciate your patience.
Sincerely,
Scott Potter, Director
38th Avenue Water Storage Tank
- Project Number: 16WC0018
- Project Summary: The project is located between 38th Ave N. and 37th Ave. N. The project consists of the demolition of the existing water storage tank and the construction of a new 2.5 million gallon above ground water storage tank. Construction also includes almost 1,000 linear feet of 12” and 24” water main, a new fire hydrant, and 679 linear feet of stormwater infrastructure. Other miscellaneous site improvements such as a sidewalk and fencing are included in the project scope. Our contractor will attempt to minimize disruption to the community as much as possible. However, nearby residents will see an increase in truck traffic and may experience noise and dust associated with demolition and construction. Customers will be notified prior to any scheduled service interruption 24 hours in advance either in person or with a door hanger. Once the project is complete, the community will have new water reservoir providing improved water service, reduced risk of pressure surges (reduced potential for line breaks and water loss), and additional emergency storage.
- August 2025 Project Update: The new 38th Ave tank will be disinfected, filled with water, and begin serving the community in September 2025.
The addition of a new 12 - inch water main in 38th Ave has extended the project completion date to March 2026. Here is a summary (by area) of additional key tasks to be completed before the anticipated project completion date.
38th Avenue Right-of-Way
In September, Blakely Construction will focus on completing the retaining wall, sidewalks, curbs, and other miscellaneous items. This work will prepare 38th Ave for paving which will be done by NDOT and scheduled for October.
37th Avenue Right-of-Way
A new 12-inch water main will be installed along 37th Avenue during Fall 2025. Final paving of 37th Ave. is scheduled for Spring 2026.
Tank Site
Upon completion of final site grading and stormwater management, general site restoration and landscaping will be done and fencing and sidewalks will be installed along 37th Avenue.
