Before submitting plans electronically you must apply for a building permit. Submit the Commercial Permit Application to [email protected]. Once you receive a temporary permit application number you can upload plans electronically.
Beginning Monday, September 8, 2025 the Metro Codes Department will launch ePlans, a new electronic plans submission software through GeoCivix. Users will be able to upload one set of plans that will be reviewed concurrently by all permitting departments. ePlans will also serve as the communication portal between the applicant and Metro reviewers, allowing applicants to monitor progress and obtain final stamped plans once reviews are completed.
Please use our ePlans User Manual to learn more about the registration and submittal process.
The Metro Codes Department and the Metro Fire Marshal's Office will be the first permitting departments utilizing this program with other development service departments to follow at a date to be determined.
