All About Signs (outside, 25 minutes)
For this session, we will bring a library of signage for the students to become familiar with. They see so many signs with their caregivers that either they can’t read just yet or are only visuals. That can be very confusing for our young learners. This will be outside with one of the NDOT trucks. This program is recommended for Pre-K-5th grade.

For this session, we will bring a library of signage for the students to become familiar with. They see so many signs with their caregivers that either they can’t read just yet or are only visuals. That can be very confusing for our young learners. This program will take place inside without the NDOT truck. After completing the lesson, students will dream up and create their own sign using materials provided by NDOT. This program is recommended for Pre-K-5th grade.
All About Signs – Extension (45 minutes)
Have you already completed the All About Signs program and are interested in continuing your sign education experience? This is for you! During this program, road signs shapes, colors, and meanings will be reviewed. Then, students will have time to dream up their own sign using craft materials provided by NDOT. From each grade level, students and teachers will vote on one sign to represent their grade, and NDOT will print the sign and bring it back to the school. This program is recommended for Pre-K-8th.
Roadway Safety for New Drivers (45 minutes)
Interactive sessions where students discuss roadway safety and share ideas to improve routes. This program is recommended for 11th-12th grade. This program shares videos concerning the importance of road safety.

Walk Audit (1 hour)
Students participate in walk audits around their school campus, learning how to identify and document roadway concerns that affect safe travel. Ambassadors are trained to report issues directly through hubNashville, giving them a practical role in improving infrastructure and advocating for safer mobility.
Walk audits will be offered in groups of 20-25 students.
Student Ambassador Program (35 minutes sessions for 4 or 6 months during the school year)
Vision Zero Student Ambassador Program is a six month curriculum designed to equip students with essential road safety knowledge and leadership skills. Through regular group sessions, participants learn to model safe behaviors and serve as peer ambassadors within their school communities. The program fosters a culture of safety and advocacy by empowering students to lead awareness campaigns, support school-based projects, and engage their broader communities in promoting safer streets.
NDOT is committed to implementing the Student Ambassador Program at one Metro Nashville Public School per school year.
