The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is awaiting 30% redesign concept plans. This project was on-hold for two years and relaunch just occurred in August 2025.

Project Description
This project will involve the design and construction of intersection improvements at 21st and 28th Avenues at Jefferson Street to improve the safety, mobility, and capacity of the intersections. The elements of the improvements may include right turn lanes, decorative pedestrian and traffic signals, improved crosswalks and striping and possibly the construction of a roundabout at 28th as an alternate design.
This project is federally funded, locally managed and is monitored by the TDOT Local Programs Development Office.
Project Funding: 80% Federal and 20% Local
- Length: 0 linear feet
- Cross-Section: 11-foot right turn and 5-foot sidewalk; 16-18-foot lanes for the roundabout.
- Estimated Project Cost: $3,900,000
