Sustainable in the City presents Getting the Buzz on Pollinators (Virtual)

Spring in Nashville means spending more time outside and with that comes the buzzing and beautiful colors of pollinators like butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Our natural ecosystems and food production depend on all types of pollinators to support biodiversity and the reproduction of flowering plants, but did you know that bees play an especially important role? A third of the world’s food production depends on bees! And while we may think of honeybees as the “traditional” bee--black, yellow, and fuzzy--there are thousands of unique and native bee species that are even more efficient pollinators. Join us for a buzzing discussion with Carol Taylor, President of Master Gardeners of Davidson County, and Ian Dawe, Secretary of Nashville Area Beekeepers Association and co-founder of We are The Honey Collective, as we learn about the importance of bees and how we can care for a wide community of pollinators. We’ll also get a glimpse inside what it takes to operate small-scale honeybee farms right here in Nashville. This episode is sure to be the bee’s knees.
