Striping Modifications
The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has studied the traffic patterns of Demonbreun Street and has decided to implement changes to the pavement markings.
Beginning on Monday, June 9, 2025 work will begin to remove the existing channelization striping and the loading zone markings of the east bound lane, between the crosswalk of the Buddy Killen Roundabout to the parking garage entrance/exit of the 1505 building. The exit of the Buddy Killen Roundabout will remain as one lane, but will then expand into 2 travel lanes. There are no changes planned for the west bound lane(s) at this time.
The removal of delineation, removal of pavement markings, and painting in the new traffic pattern is expected to take one night. Crews will return during daytime hours to install the permanent markings and reinstall delineation. The work is planned to be completed by Friday, June 13, weather permitting.
Demonbreun Hill Bikeway Striping Modifications: June 2025
Project Background and Improvements
The Demonbreun Street bikeway between the Music Row Roundabout/Buddy Killen Circle and the interstate/14th Avenue South is one of the most heavily utilized bikeways in Davidson County. Currently, the bikeway consists of buffer bike lanes on both sides of the street, in between a driving lane and a parking area beside the curb. This bikeway is frequently blocked by vehicles, forcing people biking into the driving lane to avoid these obstructions.
For several years community leaders and stakeholders have worked with Metro to identify potential changes to the Demonbreun Street bikeway. The proposed changes reflect this community participation.
