The Metro Nashville Mayor’s Office, in partnership with the Metro Public Health Department, is launching a comprehensive, citywide community engagement process to inform the development of Nashville’s first Community Safety Plan. This effort will take place from January through June and is designed to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to shape a safer, more connected Nashville.
About the Process
This engagement process will bring together residents, grassroots organizations, government agencies, youth, and community leaders to identify priorities and solutions that strengthen safety and wellbeing across Davidson County.
The process includes:
- A mayoral appointed taskforce that will meet monthly
- Countywide community engagement sessions open to all Nashville residents. Dates forthcoming.
- Listening sessions with people with lived experience, grassroots organization leadership, and other relevant stakeholders.

Community Safety Task Force
To guide this work, the Mayor’s Office and the Metro Public Health Department have convened a Community Safety Task Force composed of leaders across Metro agencies, community partners, researchers, and subject-matter experts.
The Task Force is responsible for developing the foundational framework of the Community Safety Plan, grounding it in data, research, and proven best practices. However, the plan itself is being shaped with the community. Resident input, lived experience, and ongoing feedback inform every major decision, ensuring that the final plan reflects community priorities and aligns evidence-based strategies with what people say they need most.
