The Supporting Prevention of Adolescents Resources Knowledge (SPARK) program is a program designed to support and educate adolescents on the importance of preventing unintended pregnancies. SPARK provides resources on positive youth development and increases knowledge on preventing risky behaviors. The goal of the program is to inform young people about healthy choices when navigating their everyday life in Davidson County.
SPARK provides youth ages 10-19 with self-affirming education, skills, and resources that promote abstinence and sexual risk avoidance through Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework. The SPARK Program was granted by Tennessee Department of Health to promote this initiative in Davidson County.
SPARK utilizes the Choosing the Best curriculum, a leader in abstinence-centered, sexual risk avoidance curricula, training, and resources. This curriculum offers 6-8 interactive lessons to support a child’s enrichment for the future. SPARK offers interactive events, incentives and a certificate of completion.
SPARK also offers parental workshops. These focus on staying knowledgeable and involved in a child’s life. This education is offering to ensure families have the tools to navigate a healthy lifestyle.
