The Tenprint Unit works closely with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department, Davidson County Juvenile Detention, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). With use of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which stores fingerprint submissions of 590,000+ persons, and the Automated Record Management System (ARMS), this unit is responsible for researching fingerprints and related data, conducting a thorough examination of fingerprints to make identifications, and storage and retrieval of criminal history data.
Additional duties of the Tenprint Unit include providing fingerprinting services for Sexually Oriented Business Permits and MNPD employees, identification of deceased, record corrections, and AFIS database maintenance.
