The MNPD Marine Unit is staffed with collateral duty officers and supervisors responsible for patrolling and securing Nashville’s vast waterways. The Marne Unit provides specialized policing capabilities with the ability to respond to and deter criminal activity occurring on and around waterways.
To be considered for the Marine Unit, each officer must complete a competitive selection process consisting of a swim test, written test, and oral board interview. Each officer assigned to the Marine Unit receives National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) certification and is required to attend monthly unit training.
