The Metro Nashville Police Department is committed to serving our community with pride and professionalism. As part of this commitment, our department recognizes Body Worn and In-Car Camera systems are an effective law enforcement tool that reinforces the public’s perception of police professionalism and transparency, and preserves factual representations of officer-citizen interactions. We further recognize these cameras have the potential to improve community relations, strengthen public trust in law enforcement, lower the number of citizen complaints, defend officers against false accusations, increase agency accountability and improve officer training and evaluation.
As of September 2021 the Metro Nashville Police Department has fully deployed Body Worn and In-Car Camera systems to all authorized officers. Each officer has completed more than twelve hours of hands-on and classroom training prior to using the camera systems in the community.
