A 12-year-old male former student at Henry Maxwell Elementary School is charged in Juvenile Court with making a threat of mass violence.
He was in a group chat with 14 other students when he made the statement that he was going to “come back for revenge” and then sent a picture of a handgun. He also stated that he would save them but ended the conversation with “have a great life if you can.” Due to these statements, the other students in the group chat were in fear that he would follow through with his threats. Mobile Crisis was contacted and will be following up with the child.
Threats against schools, special events and businesses are taken very seriously by the MNPD. Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.
