A 17-year-old is being charged at Juvenile Court with vehicular homicide by intoxication and reckless endangerment for driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck the wrong way on Briley Parkway and colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Cruz sedan at 4:25 a.m. today. The driver of the Cruz, Alan J. Roncone, 66, of Clarksville, was fatally injured.
The pickup truck was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Briley Parkway near Clarksville Pike when the collision occurred. The driver of the Cruz was rushed to Skyline Medical Center where he died. The 17-year-old was treated at Vanderbilt for minor injuries, discharged and immediately arrested.
The reckless endangerment charge pertains to a victim driver who was traveling ahead of the Cruz who was able to swerve and avoid a head-on collision with the pickup truck. That driver saw the crash in his rearview mirror and stopped.
