Outstanding work by East Precinct Officer James Gilliam led to this morning’s arrest of murder suspect Jaylin Brown, 17. Brown was wanted for the July 4th murder of Etabo Malanda, 16, at Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road.
Officer Gilliam located a Volkswagen Jetta near the James Cayce neighborhood that had been stolen from Brentwood Trace hours before. Violent Crimes Initiative detectives were able to stop the vehicle, and after a foot pursuit, took the driver, Brown, into custody.
Brown is one of two suspects charged with the fatal shooting.
An arrest warrant charging Raceme L. Crutcher, 21, with criminal homicide was issued in July. He is still outstanding.
Anyone with information on Crutcher’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
