A 25-year-old Nashville woman who is alleged to be a prolific shoplifter of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from stores across Nashville this year and last is now in the Metro Jail under a $115,500 bond.
Organized Retail Crime detectives have been working to locate Melissa Mayes, who is last known to have lived at 2400 Buena Vista Pike, for some time. They were able to track her down Monday night while in the act of shoplifting from a drug store on Gallatin Avenue. Mayes is now charged with:
- Stealing $200 in merchandise from Walgreens, 5600 Charlotte Pike, yesterday;
- Stealing $5,433 in merchandise from LensCrafters, Nashville West Shopping Center, on January 12;
- Stealing $8,633 in merchandise from Sunglass Hut inside Macy’s at Green Hills Mall on January 12;
- Stealing $5,400 in merchandise from LensCrafters, Nashville West Shopping Center, on January 2;
- Stealing $1,815 in merchandise from Ulta in Bellevue on January 1;
- Stealing $886 in merchandise from Lululemon on 11th Avenue South on December 14;
- Stealing $687 in merchandise from Marshall’s, Nashville West Shopping Center, on December 2, 2024;
- Stealing $4,119 in merchandise from Sephora on Broadway on July 18, 2024;
- Stealing $4,982 in merchandise from Sephora at Opry Mills Mall on July 4, 2024;
- Stealing $2,584 in merchandise from Sephora on Broadway on June 28, 2024;
- Stealing $2,626 in merchandise from Sephora on Broadway on May 25, 2024;
- Stealing $1,985 in merchandise from Gus Mayer in Green Hills Mall on May 24, 2024;
- Stealing $3,951 in merchandise from Sephora at Opry Mills Mall on May 13, 2024;
- Stealing $6,545 in merchandise from Sephora at Opry Mills Mall on April 25, 2024;
- Stealing $1,702 in merchandise from Sephora at Opry Mills on April 23, 2024
The charges against Mayes add up to 15 felony and 3 misdemeanor counts of either organized retail crime or theft.
