After more than two years of extensive investigative work by Traffic Unit investigators and the MNPD Crime Laboratory, Torion Bean Jr., 25, has been arrested for the February 2023 hit and run that claimed the life of Kimberly Benezue, 26, of Clarksville, on Dickerson Pike.
Benezue was driving on Dickerson Pike near Old Hickory Boulevard the night of February 4, 2023, when her Mazda 3 was struck by a speeding and stolen Dodge Charger. Bean, the alleged driver of the Charger, fled on foot. Benezue died at the scene.
The Charger was seen by officers prior to the crash drag racing and fled from an attempted traffic stop. Evidence from the Charger, which had been reported stolen only 2 hours and 40 minutes before the crash, showed it was traveling at 69 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone seconds before it struck Benezue’s Mazda.
DNA testing of items left in the Charger by the MNPD Crime Lab produced a lead linking Bean to this case. Additional DNA testing is still pending.
Bean, who was convicted of vehicle theft and multiple counts of robbery in 2019, and was on probation, was taken into custody in Marshall County this week. He is now charged with criminal homicide, reckless aggravated assault, vehicle theft, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, and drag racing with serious bodily injury. He remains jailed on $150,000 bond.
