Fatal crash officers are investigating whether distracted driving was a contributing factor in Tuesday night’s collision involving a Toyota Camry and a dump truck on Old Hickory Boulevard at the I-24 interchange north of downtown.
The driver of the Toyota was killed. She is identified as Heather Adkins, 34, of Clarksville.
The investigation shows that the dump truck was preparing to turn into a construction zone at 10:15 p.m. when the Toyota rear-ended it. Adkins, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Based on the location of her cell phone, she may have been using it at the time of the collision.
The driver and passenger in the dump truck were not hurt.
