A convicted burglar was arrested Tuesday night by Violent Crimes Division detectives as a part of the continued investigation into recent car burglaries in South and Hermitage Precincts.
Michiah Chism, 22, was seen driving an Infiniti G37 with no hood and front-end damage Tuesday night. The unique Infiniti matched the suspect vehicle description reported by victims from the Chatham Pointe neighborhood based on their video footage. Chism was taken into custody after parking the Infiniti on Crossings Boulevard.
During an interview with detectives Tuesday night, Chism admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the neighborhood looking for money. He also admitted to frequently going on burglary sprees.
Chism has multiple aggravated burglary and burglary convictions from 2023. He was charged Tuesday night with two counts of motor vehicle burglary, vandalism and driving on a suspended license. Additional charges are anticipated.
He remains jailed today on $24,000 bond.
