Convicted felon Chance Vaughn has been arrested on multiple felony charges in connection with the April 21 gunfire outside Club La Danse at 142 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard that left an uninvolved woman with a leg wound.
The investigation shows that Vaughn, 23, retrieved a gun from a vehicle and provided it to a co-defendant who fired at the occupied nightclub. Vaughn was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, gun possession by a convicted felon, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and probation violation.
The shooting occurred at 12:25 a.m. on April 21. Detectives were told that security's removal of a man for punching a female patron led to a physical altercation between that man's party and security guards. The ejected individuals went across the street and began firing. The security guards reported returning the gunfire in defense of themselves. A 26-year-old uninvolved woman was struck in the calf while at a nearby hotdog stand.
This investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
Vaughn was convicted last August of felony reckless endangerment with a weapon. He received a two-year probated community corrections sentence. He was convicted last November of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle and was given a two-year probated community corrections sentence. He is being held without bond pending hearings in Criminal and General Sessions Courts.
