It wasn't a good morning for convicted felon Matho Collins, 29, who, despite parole releases relating to prior aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary offenses, continues to involve himself with a gun and fentanyl.
When Collins drove away from a Ewing Lane night club in a Dodge Charger without the headlights on in the 1 a.m. hour, Specialized Investigations Division detectives who were in the area noticed. His subsequent speeding on Dickerson Pike led to an attempted traffic stop. Collins refused to pull over and was then monitored by an MNPD helicopter. A spike strip was used on Brick Church Pike to deflate his tires. The Charger ultimately stopped on Broadmoor Drive near Ellington Parkway where Collins was taken into custody without further incident.
The helicopter crew reported that Collins discarded items from the car after detectives initially attempted to stop him. Those items were a pistol and a bag containing approximately 20 grams of fentanyl, 28 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale. He's now jailed in lieu of $116,000 bond on charges of felony fentanyl and marijuana possession, unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and felony evading arrest. Federal charges against Collins are possible.
