Despite multiple convictions over the past 11 years for aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and felony heroin possession, James Broadway Jaudon is alleged to have continued in the illegal drug trade and remains jailed as the result of his arrest Thursday night in the area of Napier/Sudekum public housing.
Undercover TITANS Unit detectives spotted Jaudon, 37, in the area of Lewis and Lafayette Streets conducting multiple hand to hand transactions. In at least one of those, he retrieved a bag that appeared to contain a white substance. When detectives walked up to Jaudon, he immediately ran. During the chase, Jaudon pulled a nine-millimeter pistol from his waistband and threw it over a fence into a parking lot. When detectives caught up with him, Jaudon was carrying a bag containing 2.2 grams of crack cocaine, 4.1 grams of meth, and 10.5 grams of heroin.
Jaudon admitted to detectives that he sells drugs to make money, and that he bought the pistol off the street. He is being held tonight in lieu of $147,500 bond on multiple felony drug counts and a charge of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. The United States Attorney's Office is reviewing Jaudon's case for potential federal prosecution.
Jaudon was convicted of felony heroin possession in 2016 and received an 8-year sentence, as well as aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery in 2013 for which he received 8-year and 5-year sentences.
