Investigation by Violent Crimes Division detectives led to Wednesday night’s arrest of three young men after they bailed from a Honda Civic that had been taken in an armed carjacking Friday at an apartment complex on Millwood Drive.
Detectives located the Honda parked at a Bell Road apartment complex. Five young men were standing outside the car and when they saw police, they got into the Honda and drove off at a high rate of speed. The driver entered an apartment complex at 4501 Packard Drive and all five occupants bailed from the vehicle. The driver, Axel Turcios, 20, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He faces evading arrest and vehicle theft charges.
Detectives established a perimeter and located two other suspects, Hinmer Cordoba, 18, and Alexander Aguilar, 19. Cordoba and Aguilar are charged with joyriding and evading arrest.
Two loaded handguns were recovered. Photos of all three are being withheld pending lineups in robbery cases.
