Update: The man fatally wounded outside the Rodeway Inn just after midnight Tuesday is identified as Donzell Young Jr., 33. In relation to his murder, Jerica Taylor, 28, is charged with evidence tampering. She admitted to removing Young’s belongings from her motel room after the shooting. She remains jailed on $5,000 bond.
Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man outside the Rodeway Inn at 837 Briley Parkway. Efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
Officers responded just after midnight and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. He appears to have been staying at/or visiting the motel and was shot during an apparent argument in the parking lot. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died.
