Homicide detectives are investigating Saturday's 11:15 p.m. shooting on the I-40 East entrance ramp from Old Hickory Boulevard that critically injured a 26-year-old man. Efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
The victim was a patron at the End Zone, 5751 Old Hickory Boulevard, when he was told that the suspects were breaking into his Hyundai Kona in the parking lot. The suspects drove off and were pursued by the victim in his SUV.
The suspects fired on the victim's vehicle as he followed them onto the I-40 East entrance ramp from Old Hickory Boulevard. At least one round penetrated the windshield and struck him in the head. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
Security guards at an adjacent apartment complex heard the shots fired, came to the scene, and located the victim in his vehicle.
