Homicide detectives and fatal crash officers are investigating this morning’s death of Ashley Rodgers, 32, who was run over by a silver 2014-2016 Hyundai Elantra while she was lying down in the parking lot of the Marathon market, 2801 Jefferson Street.
Homicide detectives are working to determine whether Rodgers was intentionally hit.
North Precinct officers responded to the market at 1:46 a.m. Rodgers was rushed by ambulance to a hospital where she died during surgery.
The Elantra went to the parking lot of a nearby Wendy’s restaurant after running over Rodgers. It fled the area just before officers arrived.
Anyone with information about the Elantra, including whether Rodgers may have had any connection to its driver, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
