Update: August 2, 2023, The driver of the pickup truck involved in a road rage incident last Thursday has been identified. He became aware of media reports with photos of him and his pickup truck. He then contacted police. The investigation continues.
South Precinct detectives are working to identify persons involved in a road rage incident last Thursday in which a shot was fired striking the windshield of a semi-truck.
The semi-truck driver was traveling westbound on I-24 during congested traffic when a Ford pickup truck with a lift attempted to enter his lane of travel. As the pickup was unable to merge, the driver of the pickup began yelling at the semi driver. As the pickup drove off at a high rate of speed, a rear passenger fired a shot, striking the semi in the windshield. No one was injured.
