Update: Tavarse Reed, 19, was arrested by Specialized Investigations Division detectives Wednesday night on charges of attempted criminal homicide, assault and evidence tampering after he was identified as one of the suspects involved in Monday night’s shooting of a vape shop employee on Bell Road. Reed is now jailed in lieu of $76,000 bond. Detectives are working active leads to identify the second suspect.
Non-Lethal Shooting Unit detectives are working to identify the two suspects that entered the Discount Tobacco Shop, 476 Bell Road, Monday night and shot the store employee. The preliminary investigation indicates the employee likely asked the two men to leave after they began grabbing items in the store.
The suspect in the black hoodie (seen in attached photos) punched another man in the store and the employee drew his handgun. As they exited, the one wearing a red hoodie began shooting into the front of the store.
The employee is also seen exiting and returned fire towards the suspects, who fled in a gray sedan. He was shot in the stomach but is expected to survive his injury.
