Arrest warrants charging vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated child endangerment and two counts of aggravated child neglect have been issued against Alexander Nwaibe, 61, in connection with this morning’s single-car crash on Bell Road near Hickory Hollow Parkway that killed his four-year-old son and injured his three-year-old daughter. Both children were ejected; neither was in a restraint seat nor wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation shows that Nwaibe was driving his 2012 Mercedes GL4 west on Bell Road at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, traveled down a sidewalk, struck a brick culvert and began fishtailing. The car rolled several times, during which the two children were ejected.
Denzil Nwaibe, age four, was rushed to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where he died. His three-year-old sister received non-life-threatening injuries.
Alexander Nwaibe, who was wearing a seatbelt, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He showed no indications if impairment. Nwaibe will be arrested upon his discharge from a local hospital.
