Five individuals who fled from Violent Crimes detectives in a stolen Nissan Altima Thursday night were located inside an apartment on Creative Way with three guns (two of them stolen), vehicle programmers and key fobs.
Jamarcus Menzies, 16, was wanted on three counts of aggravated robbery and was seen last night inside the stolen Altima, which was traveling at excessive speeds near Tyler Drive. Detectives confirmed the Altima was reported stolen on Wednesday morning from an apartment complex on Bell Road.
With assistance from MNPD Aviation, the group was observed abandoning the Altima on Elm Hill Pike at Emory Drive. They then entered a green Dodge Charger, which also continued to travel at a high rate of speed before stopping at the Creative Way apartment complex. All five occupants fled into an apartment.
Detectives were able to take all five individuals into custody.
Inside the apartment, multiple vehicle programmers, key fobs, a Tennessee dealer license plate were recovered.
Three firearms were located by detectives outside the apartment. One of the handguns was equipped with a Glock switch, making it fully automatic. Two of the three handguns were stolen. One from a motor vehicle theft on May 3 in Midtown Hills and the other from a motor vehicle theft on May 16 in South Nashville.
Menzies was booked on his outstanding aggravated robbery warrants and charged in Juvenile Court with last night’s offenses alongside a 17-year-old occupant who was charged with theft of a firearm, vehicle theft, evading arrest, juvenile handgun possession, possession of fob equipment, and juvenile curfew.
Daishoun Cotton, 18, was charged with vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, evading arrest, possession of fob equipment and possession of a firearm following a domestic violence conviction. He remains jailed today on $16,000 bond.
Aryona Ward, 22, and Bryun Watkins, 18, were both charged with vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, evading arrest, and possession of fob equipment. Both remain jailed as well on $15,000 bonds.
