Update: The victim has been positively identified as a 43-year-old Nashville man who is believed to have been homeless. He had been fatally stabbed. Work is continuing to locate and notify his next of kin.
Foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose body was found this afternoon in the Cumberland River in the Donelson area.
The victim is black and was wearing a red t-shirt with “Dyersburg Dental Associates” written on the front and back. He appeared to have suffered stab wounds. The victim had no identification and is believed to have been in the water for a period of days. A boater discovered the body shortly before 3 p.m. and called 911.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
