The preliminary investigation into this morning’s four-vehicle collision in the 3000 block of Elm Hill Pike shows that the driver of an eastbound WeGo bus, for reasons unknown, drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided head-on with a westbound RePublic High School bus.
The driver of the WeGo bus was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he is in stable condition. There was one passenger total on the WeGo bus. They sustained minor injuries.
There were 12 occupants on the high school bus, the driver and eleven students, 9th-12th graders. The driver and four students sustained minor injuries.
Additionally, two SUVs that were also traveling westbound on Elm Hill Pike behind the school bus were involved in the collision. The driver of a Toyota Highlander struck the back of the school bus. She and her passenger received minor injuries. Her vehicle was then struck in the rear by the driver of a Ford Edge. He refused medical assistance.
