An escape warrant has been issued for Marcus Stanton, 20, who was taken into custody Tuesday night following an extensive investigation by Violent/Vehicle Crimes detectives into his involvement in criminal activity.
Detectives attempted to stop Stanton after he drove off from his Pippen Drive residence in a white Lexus armed with a AR-15 pistol. He drove recklessly at a high rate of speed before bailing from the vehicle. He fled on foot, through backyards, and managed to make it back to his residence which he refused to exit for hours. Stanton was ultimately found hiding in the attic where he had set up a cardboard wall in an attempt to conceal himself.
The Lexus he had been driving had been reported stolen in Murfreesboro. The pistol was recovered from the front seat. A red Nissan Maxima parked in the driveway was also reported stolen. Recovered from the residence was a second AR-15 lower receiver that had been reported stolen from a Knoxville gun show. Detectives also recovered programmable key fobs, a Dodge key fob, a Tennessee dealer tag, 21 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Prior to booking, Stanton said that he had consumed fentanyl. He was transported to General Hospital for treatment. Stanton was taken into custody at the hospital this morning. While handcuffed behind the back and in an escort position with a police officer, he fled on foot before he could be placed into a patrol car. The officer pursued Stanton on foot but he eluded capture.
In addition to the escape warrant, Stanton is wanted on outstanding warrants charging him with two counts of vehicle theft, theft of a firearm, theft of property (Glock barrel), possession of burglary tools, evidence tampering, drug possession, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license.
Stanton's arrest history since November 2023 includes theft of a firearm, theft of property, vehicle theft, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and felony marijuana possession charges related to three cases which were all settled on August 28. He received three years probation.
Anyone seeing Stanton or knowing his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
