Update: The victim is identified as Cameron Dorsey, who was living in Nashville. At the time of the shooting, he was free on $45,000 for a December 26, 2024, cocaine arrest.
The man critically wounded at 1 p.m. today inside his car at the Mapco store at 5001 Linbar Drive has died. The victim has been identified as a 24-year-old man who is originally from Memphis. Work is continuing to locate and notify his family.
The investigation to this point shows that the victim’s vehicle was closely following the suspect’s car as both traveled on Linbar Drive toward Wallace Road. Upon reaching the Mapco, both vehicles pulled into the lot, with the victim parking at one of the fuel pumps. The suspect’s car traveled around the pump island. The driver’s door then opened and multiple shots were fired into the victim’s vehicle. The shooter’s car then sped away.
Inside the victim’s vehicle was a small plastic baggie containing what appeared to be crack cocaine. It is unclear whether that discovery is related to the motive for this fatal shooting.
