A coordinated and focused investigation by Hermitage Precinct detectives, the MNPD’s Gang Unit and the Juvenile Crime Task Force has led to the identification of Juwan Gaines, 19, as the man who opened fire in a hallway of Opry Mills Mall Wednesday night. Gaines’ actions resulted in the critical wounding of a 19-year-old man in an apparent rival group and sent numerous mall shoppers scrambling for cover.
Arrest warrants have been issued charging Gaines with attempted murder, felony reckless endangerment, and using a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony.
Gaines, who is last known to have lived in Wilson County, is at large. Law enforcement is working diligently to locate him. Anyone seeing Gaines or knowing his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
