Homicide Unit detectives this morning charged Labrian Elliot, 22, with the June 29 murder of Jeremy Smith, 23, who was fatally shot inside a car on River Road Pike.
Violent Crimes detectives arrested Elliot overnight on outstanding warrants, unrelated to the murder, charging him with two counts of aggravated robbery and burglary of a motor vehicle.
Homicide Unit detectives developed Elliot as a suspect in Smith’s murder. During an interview following his arrest, Elliot admitted his involvement, saying that while driving on River Road Pike he shot Smith inside the car. The motive remains under investigation.
At the time of his arrest, Elliot was in possession of a handgun reported stolen in December 2021 from a pickup truck on 11th Avenue South.
The aggravated robbery charges stem from a May 30 hold-up at the D.B. Todd Market, 1509 Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard.
Elliot is being held without bond.
