Specialized Investigations Division detectives conducted an undercover sex-trafficking/prostitution operation Tuesday that resulted in the arrest of Angel Diaz-Carvajal, 29.
A detective called a number from an online advertisement and arranged to meet a woman/victim in the parking lot of a Bell Road motel. She approached the detective’s unmarked police vehicle and was taken into custody. During an interview, she stated that Diaz-Carvajal had promised her work as a maid if she came to Nashville but instead forced her into prostitution. She said he would keep all the money, that she was afraid of him, and had not eaten in a day. She accepted and is receiving victim services.
Diaz-Carvajal attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. He is charged with trafficking for a commercial sex act, promoting prostitution, evading and resisting arrest. Diaz-Carvajal remains jailed on $185,000 bond.
