Specialized Investigations Division TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) tonight arrested Jordan Worthington, 19, for shooting into a home on Del Sol Drive Wednesday night and wounding the 35-year-old resident in the hip. The victim was shot in his bedroom after yelling through the window at persons (one of whom is alleged to have been Worthington) who were lurking around his pickup truck parked in the driveway.
Detectives tonight alertly spotted a gray Honda Accord at a Madison market that was suspected of being involved in the shooting (the car was stolen from a Woodmont Boulevard parking lot on January 17). The driver exited the market carrying what appeared to be a pistol in his waistband and got into the Honda. An MNPD helicopter crew flew into the area and monitored the Honda until ground units conducted a coordinated vehicle stop at Tulip Grove Road and Central Pike. Worthington was taken into custody without incident. A .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the car. The gun was taken to the MNPD Crime Lab which confirmed through ballistic testing that it is linked to the Del Sol Drive shooting.
In addition to attempted criminal homicide, Worthington is charged with vehicle theft, felony gun possession, felony reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, facilitation of auto burglary, and driving without a license.
Worthington’s history reflects two arrests for aggravated robbery at ages 14 and 17. He is being held in lieu of $435,500 bond.
