Investigation by East Precinct detectives led to Tuesday’s arrest of Tyrone Meriweather, 20, for the November 9, 2021 robbery of Young’s Fashion store on 1411 Gallatin Avenue during which Meriweather fired shots at two employees who were not struck.
North Precinct officers yesterday responded to the 900 block of 16th Avenue North for a call about a person with a gun. They observed Meriweather walk into the back door of a residence and then run out the front door. They located Meriweather hiding in a bush on Ireland Street. A gun was located buried in mulch where Meriweather was found. Officers learned he had multiple outstanding warrants related to the robbery.
During an interview, Meriweather admitted he was at the store and fired shots. Meriweather is charged with two counts of attempted homicide, aggravated robbery, unlawful gun possession (under 21), and felon in possession of a weapon. Meriweather has felony convictions for burglary of motor vehicles.
Meriweather is being held in lieu of $1,111,000 bond.
