TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives this afternoon arrested Charles Alonzo Gipson, 40, for shooting a woman and leaving her in a ditch on Knight Drive earlier this month.
A passerby discovered the wounded 49-year-old victim on the night of January 10th. She had been shot multiple times in the hip, stomach and chest areas. She was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation, led by Detective Maryanne Bartello, shows that a verbal dispute between a man, subsequently identified as Gipson, and the victim resulted in him ordering her out of a car on Knight Road. She was then shot and left behind. The victim picked Gipson, with whom she was acquainted, from a photo lineup, after which an arrest warrant was issued charging attempted murder.
Today, TITANS detectives located Gipson and followed him to an apartment complex off Heritage Drive. They blocked his vehicle and took him into custody without incident.
A judicial commissioner set bond for Gipson at $150,000.
