Terrance Trice, 36, is charged with criminal homicide for the fatal stabbing of James Cane Jr. 44, in a church parking lot at 719 Gallatin Pike S.
At 12:04 a.m. Monday, a Madison Precinct officer saw then men engaged in a physical struggle/argument. Cane was critically injured. Trice fled the scene. Cane was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died.
Detectives recovered surveillance video of Trice following the victim north on Gallatin Pike prior to the stabbing. The motive remains under investigation.
Trice was also charged with a sex offender registry violation. He has prior convictions for assault, domestic assault, and felony drug possession. Trice remains jailed on $160,000 bond.
