The Nashville man seriously injured in Thursday’s 5 a.m. car-electric bicycle collision is identified as Thinh Pham, 63.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Robert Becker, 59, of Nashville, was driving his Toyota Camry northbound on Old Hickory Boulevard when he struck Pham, who was riding his e-bike north in the same lane of travel. Pham was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
Becker said that he had briefly looked down to change the temperature in the car just prior to colliding with the back of the e-bike. There was no evidence of impairment at the scene on the part of either the driver or the cyclist.
Charges are pending consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.
