One of the passengers in a drag racing-related crash at Bomar and Centennial Boulevards on the night of September 5th has died.
Andre D. Adams, 20, was in the back seat of an Infiniti Q50 sitting outside of the vehicle with his legs still inside as the driver of the car, Ja’Quarius Meredith, 25, raced a white sedan while traveling northwest on Centennial Boulevard. The two vehicles entered a curve in the roadway and the Infiniti was unable to negotiate it. The Infiniti traveled onto Bomar Boulevard, over a railroad crossing and went airborne. It landed off the roadway onto a grass shoulder and struck several signs before coming to a final rest. Adams and another back seat passenger were ejected. The second back seat passenger and a front seat passenger received non-life-threatening injuries. Meredith ran away from the crash.
Meredith is presently wanted on multiple arrest warrants charging him with leaving the scene of a crash involving personal injury (3 counts), drag racing resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated assault (3 counts), failure to render aid, and coercion of a witness.
