Last July’s drug-related fatal shooting of Markus Cantrell in the 3100 block of Ewingwood Drive has now led to the indictment of Tru Booker, 28, on a charge of 2nd degree murder with an alternative charge of voluntary manslaughter.
The investigation showed that Booker, the alleged seller in a drug deal, shot Cantrell during an exchange of gunfire after, Booker said, Cantrell tried to rob him. Booker suffered a wound to his forearm. Cantrell, 28, was wounded in the face and died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Booker, who was booked this afternoon on the new indictment, has been in jail since last July on drug and gun charges.
