The man killed during an exchange of gunfire Monday at 9:15 a.m. in an apartment building parking garage at 1200 Broadway is identified as Layth Hantouli, 26.
Officers responded to shots fired on the 5th floor of the garage and found Hantouli with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
The investigation shows that at least two male suspects drove into the garage prior to Hantouli’s arrival in his vehicle. Evidence at the scene indicates that shots were exchanged between him and the suspects. A handgun was recovered near Hantouli’s right hand. The suspects fled.
Approximately six pounds of marijuana were recovered from Hantouli’s vehicle. During a search of an apartment in the building linked to Hantouli, detectives recovered more than 200 pounds of marijuana.
